JULIA GOODFELLOW-SMITH

Author. Adventurer. Speaker. Environmentalist.

Hi! I’m Julia. At the age of 50, I decided it was time to lead a more adventurous life and share what I learnt with others to help them do the same.

Since then, I have walked the Malvern Hills dressed as a jellyfish for charity, walked the South West Coast Path, cycled King Alfred's Way and walked the Camino de Santiago - twice. I also have some unfinished business with Offa's Dyke, which I had to stop walking because my feet were so badly blistered... lessons learnt!

My adventures will appeal to people who like the idea of introducing an element of excitement into their lives. They will be adventures that other people, including women in their 50’s like me, can imagine being able to do with a little bit of time and encouragement.

My husband Mike and I are currently adventuring our way around New Zealand. We'll be here until March 2024, and I'll be writing every week about our experiences over on Substack. This is writing from my heart about anything I think you will find interesting, whether that's nature, adventure, politics or just fun.

ADVENTURE

WRITING

I am the author of the #1 Best Selling Book 'Live Your Bucket List', a guide to my proven process to take you from dreaming to achieving. Each step of the process is detailed and accompanied by personal stories and key lessons from my own journey. Cycling King Alfred's Way was the next book in the Live Your Bucket List series, soon to be followed by Walking the Camino. Both of these combine memoir with practical guidance to help you achieve a similar dream.

I also write walking guidebooks and occasionally contribute to magazines. 15 Short Walks on the Malvern Hills is published by Cicerone Press and Top 10 Walks: Coastal Pub Walks – South Wales Coast is published by Northern Eye Books.

When you commission me as a writer, you can be confident that you will have a beautifully crafted article or book with the correct word count, delivered by the agreed deadline.

“Thank you for a really thoughtful piece. You’ve tied up so many points about adaptation, climate change, and management, and it’s a really clear call to arms to all woodland owners. It’s another great article – many thanks once again!”

SPEAKING

I give engaging and informative presentations, tailored to my audience. Audiences to date have ranged from 700 members of the Women’s Institute to 50 (mostly male) construction workers. I am equally as comfortable presenting in person or remotely via a video link. I have also been a podcast guest on several occasions.
