Buen Camino!

Is the Camino de Santiago, a pilgrimage route across northern Spain, just another long-distance path, or is there something more to it? This talk explores the Camino journey, both physical and spiritual. Who walks the Camino, and why? What challenges do pilgrims face? And how does it differ from other long-distance walks? Enjoy stunning photography of the Spanish landscape and architecture. Laugh, cry and wonder. Will this be the start of your Camino?

"Wonderful photos and a beautiful talk."

"Such an enjoyable talk, so well organised and illustrated. Julia is a warm and engaging speaker and opened out her Camino experience in an informative yet personal manner. The photos were stunning. I recommend this event to anyone"

"Spellbinding! I was riveted throughout."

Lessons from a Long Walk

Walking the 630-mile South West Coast Path gave me plenty of time for reflection. This talk examines some of the lessons I learnt or re-learnt during my 7.5-week adventure, illustrated through a range of amusing and entertaining stories.

"We were all completely spellbound."

"A great adventure, well told."

"What a truly inspirational woman Julia is! Her presentation was like a breath of fresh air on a cold February day."

"A most enjoyable way to spend an hour."

Live Your Bucket List

What’s on your bucket list? Do you dream of visiting far-flung places, starting your own business or hiking a long-distance trail? This talk covers the four different stages I have identified to turn those dreams into memories: igniting your dream, planning, implementation and reflection. Each stage is illustrated with entertaining stories from my own bucket list adventures, including hiking the 630-mile South West Coast Path.

"I am not particularly interested in long walks, or indeed a bucket list, but Julia I have to say you are fantastic.  I could listen to you for hours.  I think you are possibly the best speaker I have ever heard."

"Very inspirational."

"Gifted speaker."

A Spin Through Time

King Alfred’s Way circles through some of the most historic and prehistoric landscapes of Wessex. Starting in the cathedral city of Winchester, it skirts Stonehenge and Avebury, follows the Ridgeway National Trail and then down the Thames Valley to the Surrey hills before climbing onto the South Downs for the return to Winchester. With only a few weeks to prepare and train, would I be able to cope with the hills and cover all 217 miles in less than a week? Would my decades-old friendship with my cycling companion survive the challenge? Book this talk for tales of adventure, friendship and lessons learnt from this epic journey.
